Karen Glavin - About Me

My name is Karen Glavin and this is my 20th year in fourth grade at St. Joseph, and 26th year teaching in the catholic schools. I have been married to my husband Mike for 37 years. We have 3 absolutely, wonderful, amazing daughters and 3 son-in-laws. Megan and Matt, Larson, who are expecting their first baby this December, Sarah and Dillon Supiran and their twin boys Logan and Lincoln, who will be two in February, and my youngest daughter Katie Glavin and Dan. I attended St. Joseph Grade School and high school, as well as my husband, Mike, my children, 8 younger brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews. My mother and uncles also graduated from St. Joseph. St. Joseph is my home and I am so blessed to be a part of such a wonderful community. I graduated from Benedictine College in 1981, with a degree in special and elementary education. I taught a third and fourth grade combined class for four years at Holy Family in Kansas City, Kansas. I taught second grade for two years at St. Patrick's. I took fourteen years away from full time teaching to be at home with our  daughters. During the years I was away from being a full time teacher, I substituted at St. Joseph and several other schools in the archdiocese. I also became a fitness instructor and taught at many area clubs. I love fourth grade, reading, walking, gardening, raw almonds, and shopping on amazon. I have a dog, Gus. My favorite colors are purple and blue.   I am excited to start a new year!!!!
